Colleagues, today I assume this office conscious of its weight. The EFCC is not a personal platform; it is a covenant between the Nigerian state and its people that impunity will not be the norm.
Under my leadership this Commission will pursue every credible case without fear or favour. There will be no sacred cows — and there will also be no scapegoats. We will follow evidence, not sentiment; law, not applause.
We will balance enforcement with prevention, because the naira we stop from being stolen is worth more than the naira we recover after the fact. And we will treat every suspect with the dignity the constitution guarantees, because an anti-corruption agency that breaks the law teaches the country that law is optional.
I ask for the prayers of Nigerians, the cooperation of the press, and the diligence of every officer of this Commission. History is watching all of us.
