Following his nomination by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on 12 October 2023, the Nigerian Senate has confirmed Mr. Olanipekun Olukoyede as Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission — the Commission’s fifth substantive chief executive and the first from Nigeria’s south-west.
A lawyer and Certified Fraud Examiner, he previously served the Commission as Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman (2016) and as Secretary to the Commission (2018–2023).
In his first address he pledged enforcement without fear or favour, balanced by prevention: “There will be no sacred cows — and there will also be no scapegoats. We will follow evidence, not sentiment; law, not applause.”
